The company has been involved in Beta testing equipment for Trimble and John Deere. Through this commitment the company has been rewarded by being part of new advances in the construction industry. An example of such a commitment is the use of GPS within the company. Jack L. Massie Contractor, Inc. (JLMCI) was one of the first contractors in Virginia to purchase and operate equipment using GPS technology. The system utilizes 3D modeling of a project to allow the equipment operator to view a computer screen to determine his/her horizontal and vertical location on a project; or it allows the computer to automatically control the vertical location on the equipment blade. JLMCI also uses GPS for stake-out purposes on a project. The system has allowed JLMCI to increase its accuracy, efficency and productivity. This translates into projects being built with better environmental control, on time and within budget for our clients.
